Stan Freberg had problems with a Yankee snare drummer Alvin Stoller in the hit parody. The Yellow Rose Of Texas featuring Stan Freberg, with Billy May’s Orchestra, Jud Conlon’s Rhythmaires and drumming by Alvin Stoller. Freberg’s top-20 radio hit was modelled after the arrangement of Johnny Desmond’s version of the civil war song initially popularized by Mitch Miller in 1955.
